EspañaEnCorto was founded in 2013 by graduate student, Kate Bundy, at the University of Georgia. After working for the Spanish Ministry of Exterior Culture in 2008-2009, and subsequently meeting several short filmmakers and festival organizers in Salamanca and Madrid, Kate's relationship with Spanish short film distributors enabled her to found and organize annual film festivals in Kennesaw, GA (c. 2008), and later in Athens, GA (c. 2012).
The uniqueness of the film festival every Spring attracts hundreds of attendees every year, and does not fail to leave an impression on audience members who may not have much prior exposure to Spanish cinema. Now, EspañaEnCorto is a cultural staple of The Department of Romance Languages at University of Georgia, and of the Athens arts community at large.
